Doylestown Airport 2.2 for X-Plane adds two objects to the beautiful Bucks County landscape—the departure procedure and Civil Air Patrol signs. I also removed the runway distance markers because the 3,000-foot sign was being rendered in the middle of a taxiway. Unfortunately, this is done at the simulator level, so I have no control over final placement. Below is a preview of the two new objects for your viewing pleasure.
My favorite addition is the departure procedures sign, which is attached to the picnic area fence. Follow the posted procedures for the most realistic experience possible!
The second object is the Civil Air Patrol sign, which is located directly across from the Doylestown Airport sign at the entrance. It’s not visible from within the road, but it is a familiar sight to commuters.

During my recent trip to Doylestown Airport, I took the opportunity to snap a few photos for use in my scenery. I was able to obtain decent pictures of the Leading Edge Aviation office, as well as the fence surrounding the picnic area. In addition to the building and fence revamp, I fixed the airport beacon type, which is now correctly mounted to a pole. The only difference is that the real-world pole is not metal with red and white stripes, but wooden. I also added two new stationary aircraft, the Civil Air Aviation trailer and shed, security fence, and a few other details.
The Leading Edge Aviation office takes advantage of 4K textures, an X-Plane 10 feature that allows super-high resolution images to be used for objects, facades, and other scenery building blocks.
The picnic area fence also uses high resolution textures (2048×1024). This is more than four times the quality of OpenSceneryX’s chainlink fence texture.
Yesterday, I was in the area, so I decided to stop by Doylestown Airport to do a little plane spotting. I put together a few videos and pictures for your viewing pleasure.
First, we have a 1971 Piper Cherokee (PA-28-180) taxiing and taking off from runway 05. As far as weather, the skies were clear and wind was variable at around five knots (METAR listed at bottom of post).
The next video features a 1999 Piper Turbo Saratoga SP (PA-32R-301T) landing on runway 05.
Finally, this video depicts a 1973 Bellanca Super Viking 300A (17-30A) landing on runway 05.
